Like most people, I made mistakes in those early months of starting my own business. One of them was hiring a business coach who thought that her way was the only way.
That’s why in my own private practice coaching, I believe in adapting to YOUR needs. Just like in my therapy practice, it’s all about adapting to the client. There is just no cookie cutter for success. Especially in social work.

In those first few months, I spent a lot of time doing things that I really didn’t enjoy. My business coach told me “you need to get out of your comfort zone.” So there I was, calling, faxing , sending packages and visiting GP practices. Waiting in vain for GPs to join my expensive vegan lunch. During that challenging period, I endured cancelled meetings, rude practice managers, elusive school principals and agencies and area managers who never returned my calls.
Believe me, I tried it all. After months of frustrating work, I felt exhausted, demoralised and ready to quit.
It was time to take stock.
I realised I wasn’t playing to my strengths. I was doing what I had been told to do, but my heart wasn’t in it. Those hand-me-down business strategies were a bad fit. They just weren’t working for me.
I needed to find my own pathway to success.
I know that you don’t need to pay someone $2000 a month to get results with SEO. I know that you don’t need to spend thousands on expensive ads. And you definitely don’t need to go through the gatekeepers, spending a fortune on petrol, postage and gourmet GP lunches.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
After an initial phone call, we’ll set up some video-link appointments where we’ll talk about your needs and where you are currently placed in your private practice journey. If you already have a website, then send me a link and we can look through it together.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?
That depends on your needs and where you are in your private practice journey. Generally most people will need about 5 - 8 sessions initially over the first months of opening (or preparing to open).
DO I NEED TO SIGN UP FOR A PACKAGE?
No. You can buy ad hoc sessions to help you on your way. Flexibility is important, that’s why I offer the option of single sessions with no lock in contracts.
DO YOU GIVE FINANCIAL OR LEGAL ADVICE?
No. I am not a lawyer or an accountant. My aim is to help guide you through the first stage of private practice with marketing and business strategies which will work for you.
DO I NEED TO HAVE MY MENTAL HEALTH ACCREDITATION?
My belief is that a medicare provider number will make you more competitive and help build a successful practice faster. But it’s not essential. Many counsellors and therapists run successful practices without offering Medicare rebates. As part of your coaching journey, I can help you work towards your AMHSW application and take those first steps in marketing your practice.
