I KNOW WHAT ITS LIKE TO LIVE YOUR LIFE IN THE SHADOW OF A NARCISSISTIC MOTHER.
I was raised in a narcissistic home.
Although I’ve been trained in social work, trauma therapy and counselling, I feel like my most significant qualification is surviving a narcissistic family.
I can understand your pain and struggles on a deeper level and I know what it takes to heal.
My mother was a covert or collapsed narcissist. Needy, manipulative and demanding, she was hard to understand and even harder to please. No matter what I did, I couldn’t find the magic formula to gain her approval. Ironically, for most of my childhood, it appeared from the outside as if I was the Golden Child. To my siblings, I was my mother’s favourite, but underneath, it was all a lie. Although I seemed to be the favoured one, showered with attention and affection, the attention came at the cost of my sense of self.
My mother needed me to be perfect, and no matter how hard I tried I couldn’t live up to the standards she set. Her disapproval was just as stunning as the conditional love she offered. She was often filled with rage at innocent mistakes and imperfections. At the same time, she could be incredibly fragile, desperate for attention and approval and angry when it wasn’t forthcoming. Sometimes, she was like the child and she needed me to parent her.
Her moods were unpredictable.
Initially I thought that career success was the answer to my feelings of worthlessness and fear. I worked hard at my art practice and promoting my work. Although it was challenging, I had some success and eventually landed a job as a full-time academic in visual arts. But it didn’t last.
After three years, I was thrown unprepared back into the pile of casual academics and found myself on the treadmill of applying for ongoing work, but continually getting knock backs.
Eventually, I made the life-changing decision to retrain in social work. I started having therapy to help me understand and cope with this major life-crisis.
As the therapy unfolded, I came to realise the depth of my trauma - and the extent of my mother’s problems.
So that’s why I know I can help you.
I went from being unemployed, scared and angry to having the self-compassion and commitment to start and succeed at my own business and, for the first time, really enjoy my relationships and my creativity.

Hi! My name is Amanda and, like you, I grew up with a narcissistic mother. It took me a long time to recognise the problem and work towards healing.
Let me guide you on your journey to acceptance and self-love . The road to recovery can be difficult and demanding , but in the end it’s the only trip worth taking.
As the daughter of a narcissist, its easy to blame yourself and think that things will never change.
BUT I’M HERE TO TELL YOU THEY CAN AND WILL.
Maybe you think you only deserve a half life. You may have tried other pathways, spending money and time on courses or books that don't touch the trauma or truly understand your challenges.
You keep going out with narcissistic men or women, having relationships where you're doing all the work. Friendships where you feel like you are a community resource, but without any reciprocal support. Continually sabotaging yourself in love and career. Ending up lonely, depleted, frustrated and fed up.
Deep trauma requires deep healing.
Without meaningful change you could wind up living a half-life where you are under-appreciated and exhausted, never coming close to your dreams. I know, I’ve been there. Even though I thought I was pursuing my dreams, they were always someone else’s. I was doing what I thought I needed to do to get the validation I missed out on in childhood. Fuelled by a desperate need for acknowledgement and love, I ran hard to get what I wanted, only to find it was all based on an empty promise. I could never truly heal myself through the elusive recognition I was chasing. I needed to find myself, to heal my relationship with me.
That’s why I’ve called my course Reclaim Your Authentic Self. Because that’s the hardest fight of all for daughters of narcissistic mothers. To understand and connect with our deepest selves post the narcissistic wounding we received in childhood. Everything else comes second and the gains from self-awareness and deep self-connection just can’t be delivered anywhere else. They are what we really need to take the next steps in our relationships and careers, in our personal lives and at work. Without knowing and understanding our authentic selves we stay stuck in harmful patterns, nowhere near our true potential, frustrated in love, lonely and disappointed, often exploited by those closest to us.
My course can help you step out from this endless cycle of perfectionism, self-criticism, self-sabotage and one-sided relationships - a life where you are out of touch with yourself and others.
I want you to imagine a new life.
A life where you can get what you want in your relationships and your career. A life where you can connect with your partner, find true happiness in your romantic relationships and be the self you always wanted to be. Imagine this new, more connected and more joyful self, free from the trauma of the past. I’m here to show you that it is possible.
Take the first steps on your pathway to a better life.
